The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Deemed to be University, organized a university-level orientation program for 1st year Law B.A.LL.B (Hons.), B.B.A.LL.B (Hons.), B.Sc. LL.B (Hons.), and LL.M students of 2025-2026 Session.
Dr. Kyvalya Garikapati, Dean Academics, welcomed the students. She emphasized the importance of legal education in today’s world and outlined various academic activities to help students become familiar with the academic environment.
Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Director of the School of Law, highlighted the importance of ethics, integrity, sincerity, discipline, and value systems, which are crucial aspects of being a good person. She also mentioned that while you will each earn a degree as students, possessing these qualities will truly make you good human beings. Dr. Varghese also advised the students to obey the hostel rules and regulations and maintain a disciplined life.
Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, the Registrar, KIIT-DU addressed the newly admitted batch and congratulated each student and their parents for choosing KIIT University as their alma mater. Dr. Mohanty advised the students to uphold the university’s reputation while sharing its rankings and recognitions. He further emphasized the importance of elevating the university’s status to even greater heights.
Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, the Honorable Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, graced the event. In his speech to the students, Dr. Samanta stated that KIIT Law School is among the top law schools. Students from 70 countries are enrolled at the university, pursuing their dreams at KIIT University. These students are regarded as ambassadors of the university and should uphold its reputation as proud alumni. Dr. Samanta advised students to avoid bad habits, focus on their studies, stay disciplined, and follow the university’s rules. He also encouraged students to work towards their dreams, noting that former alumni have made history in fields like academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. He emphasized that students should make their university and parents proud, citing Nidhi Singh, a student from the first batch of the School of Law in 2007, as an example.
Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the university, advised students to follow the rules and regulations and encouraged them to explore various opportunities available. He also recommended developing new skills each semester to enhance their lives. Dr. Singh further urged students to take advantage of the numerous opportunities at the university to meet the expectations of their parents and uphold the university’s reputation.
The orientation program concluded with a word of thanks from Dr. Sudipta De Sarkar, Dean of Student Affairs and Industry Engagement at the School of Law.
