The Collage Making Competition which was organized by the CENTRE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, KIIT SCHOOL OF LAW in collaboration with NSS, on the theme "Human Rights in Contemporary Times" was held on 12 November 2024 at the Library Annexe, KIIT School of Law. The event commenced at 2:15 PM with members arriving and preparing for the competition. The competition officially began with ten teams showcasing their creative interpretations of the theme. The judges for the competition were Prof. (Dr.) Rajan Varghese, Ms. Tulip Suman, and Dr. Tulishree Pradhan.
Each team presented unique art pieces reflecting various aspects of human rights. Team 1 combined drawn art with collage techniques, while Team 3 illustrated chained hands symbolizing oppression. Team 4 created an impactful piece featuring shellacked hands breaking free, set against a globe surrounded by messages like democracy, freedom, justice, peace, and dignity. Team 5 creatively utilized artful newspaper pieces, and Team 6 impressed with a frame entirely made of torn paper. Team 7 presented a collage centered on freedom-based drawings, while Team 9
showcased a fist with a ribbon labeled “Human Rights,” set against a globe. Team 12 created an inspiring piece titled “I Am Human with Rights,” featuring a butterfly with human values inscribed on its wings.
The event served as a powerful reminder that human rights, like art, require constant expression and advocacy. It emphasized the idea that rights are not granted by authority but are inherent and shaped by individuals, much like the art pieces presented.
The winner of the completion will be declared on 10 th December, 2024 i.e the Human Rights Day. The first three winners will be provided with gift hampers to encourage and boost their morals for their future endeavors.
