The First International Moot Court Competition was organized by KIIT School of Law from 12th -14th of September, 2025. The inaugural session of the 1st KIIT International Moot Court Competition was graced by Retd. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Chairperson of the 23rd Law Commission of India, along with Mr. Ashok Kumar Parija, Chancellor, KIIT DU, Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT DU, Prof. Raju K.D., Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT DU, Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Former-Director School of Law and Prof Emeritus (Dr.) N.L. Mitra, Advisor KIIT and KISS.
These dignitaries through their inspiring and wise words set the tone for the rest of the competition. Speeches captured the essence of mooting and arbitration with 54 law schools participating nationally and internationally. The Day 2 of the Competition is where the Competition came at its full force with 54 teams going against each in other in the 2 preliminary rounds, adjudicated by over 90 brilliant adjudicators from across the country.
Justice Dinesh Maheshwari (Retd.) referred to mooting as a “laboratory of law“, highlighting critical thinking, inquisitiveness, and devotion. Having finished on a note of inspiration, He invited students to strive for excellence, saying, “When Litigation closes the door, arbitration opens the window.”
Mr. Ashish Ahuja, Managing Partner, Wadia Ghandy & Co., who graced the occasion emphasized the crucial interplay between drafting and real laws for future lawyers, encapsulating the spirit of mooting with the profound words, ” today there are no winners and losers, only learners” on how the Moot Court Society of KIIT School of Law empowers students to become great lawyers.
The valedictory ceremony of the 1st KIIT International Moot Court Competition and the inaugural International Arbitration segment at KIIT School of Law marked a significant culmination of legal prowess, learning, and camaraderie. The winner was NALSAR University in a clinching final.
