The KIIT School of Law formally inaugurated the KIIT Centre for Women and Gender Studies (KCWGS) today, marking an important step towards institutionalizing academic engagement and advocacy on issues related to women, gender, and social justice. To commemorate the inauguration, the Centre, in collaboration with the Cultural Society, organized a flash mob aimed at sensitizing the student community to issues of women’s rights and gender equality.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the official logo of the KIIT Centre for Women and Gender Studies by the Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, signifying the University’s commitment to promoting inclusive scholarship, interdisciplinary research, and awareness on gender-related concerns.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of students, who gathered at the law school premises to observe the performance. The campus was marked by a vibrant and engaging atmosphere, reflecting a high level of student involvement and a shared commitment to advancing gender justice and equality. The flash mob effectively served as a medium of expression and awareness, reinforcing the Centre’s objectives of outreach and engagement.
Subsequent to the programme, membership registration forms and applications for positions of office bearers of the Centre were circulated among students, inviting them to actively associate with KCWGS and contribute to its academic and co-curricular initiatives.
The inauguration event successfully laid the foundation for the KIIT Centre for Women and Gender Studies as a dedicated platform for teaching, research, dialogue, and advocacy in the field of gender studies, while fostering student participation and leadership.
The entire program was very ably manoeuvred by the newly appointed student officebearers of the centre, namely Ms. Anushka Chatterjee, 4th year B.A.LLB, Ms. Tanisha Ghosh, 3rd year B.A.LLB and Ms. Aishwarya Roy, 3rd year B.A.LLB. Dr. Binita Behera is the Faculty Convenor, and Dr. Sidharth Sekhar Dash is the Faculty Co-Convenor.
