KIIT School of Law successfully organized the Inaugural Program of the DLSA Legal Aid Clinic on 20th February 2026, reaffirming its commitment to access to justice and community engagement.
The program commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Pragyan Parimita Ray, setting the tone for the event. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation on the KIIT Legal Services Clinic (KLSC) by the KLSC Team, outlining its objectives, outreach initiatives, and future roadmap. The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of Prof. Faiz Ayat Ansari and the formal inauguration of his book by the Organizing Committee of DLSA.
The gathering was addressed by Mr. Loknath Mohapatra, Director Legal Services, Prof. (Dr.) Raju K.D., Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) N. L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus. In their remarks, the dignitaries underscored the constitutional vision of legal aid, the institutional responsibility of law schools, and the transformative role of young legal professionals in advancing social justice.
Adding further depth to the program, Ms. Manasi Parhi conducted an insightful session on the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and gender-based violence, elaborating on statutory safeguards and redressal mechanisms. Ms. Amita Singh from Plan International unveiled IEC materials on child sexual abuse and highlighted key child protection interventions and awareness strategies.
The program concluded with the formal inauguration of the Legal Aid Clinic by Ms. Salomi Sahu, Secretary, DLSA, followed by a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Shashank Nande, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, and participants for their valuable contributions to the initiative.
