Legal Aid Clinic, School of Law, KIIT University successfully conducted a Legal Awareness Programme at Jadatira Gram Panchayat with the objective of enhancing legal literacy and promoting access to justice at the grassroots level. The programme witnessed active participation from Panchayat officials and local residents and was complemented by a field survey to understand the legal issues and social challenges faced by the community.

The session focused on important socio-legal concerns such as domestic violence, sexual harassment and sexual violence, and the legal rights and protections available to women. Participants were also made aware of various women welfare schemes and the importance of timely legal recourse in cases of abuse and discrimination.

The programme was graced by the presence of Mr. Loknath Mohapatra, Director, Legal Services, KIIT School of Law; Dr. Pragnya Parimita, Faculty Coordinator; and Mr. Pritam Samal Faculty Associate , whose guidance enriched the deliberations.

Special emphasis was laid on legal support mechanisms, including the Legal Services Authority (LSA), Legal Aid Clinics (LACs), the role of Protection Officers, and the Women Commission, empowering participants with practical knowledge on seeking legal assistance.

The programme reaffirmed KIIT School of Law’s commitment to community engagement, social justice, and inclusive legal education.
