Biography and academic profile

Dr. Binita Behera is Assistant Professor-II at KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed to be University, with over two decades of experience in teaching, research and development practice. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her interdisciplinary research engages with gender and social justice, education, indigenous rights, environmental justice, technology and society, and contemporary social issues. She has contributed to academic publications and international conferences and has been associated with UNICEF, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Odisha, ActionAid and OPEPA. At KIIT, she contributes to teaching, research, student counselling, mentoring and institutional initiatives on gender and social welfare.

Dr. Binita Behera

Dr. Binita Behera is a Sociologist and educator with over 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and social development. She is currently working as Assistant Professor-II at KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, where she teaches Sociology and interdisciplinary courses connecting society, law, and contemporary social issues.
She holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems (CSSS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Her doctoral research examined the relationship between schooling and the construction of gender identities, reflecting her long-standing engagement with gender, education, and socialization.
