Biography and academic profile

Dr. Sonali Swetapadma is an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, KIIT-DU. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Management) from Ravenshaw University and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from Madhusudan Law College. She further advanced her legal expertise by completing a Master’s in Law with a specialization in Criminal and Security Law from the School of Law, KIIT-DU.
Dr. Swetapadma was awarded with Ph.D. in the year 2024 for her research titled “A Critical Study of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act 2012 (with special reference to Odisha)” under KIIT-DU. She has also worked as a Field Investigator for Odisha in an ICSSR-sponsored research project, “Response to the Offence of Rape by the Criminal Justice System – An Empirical Study in the States of Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.” She has to her name many publications and paper presentations of national and international repute. She is also the author of a book titled "Sexual Offences against Children in India (Understanding the Criminal Justice Responses)" (1st ed.) published by Routledge publications. Her areas of expertise vary from criminal laws, gender-based violence, child rights, victim rights, laws on child sexual abuse etc.
