On the 12th of August, 2023, the Legal Aid Society of KIIT School of Law organized a camp at Pathani Samanta School, with the aim of creating awareness about cyber security and safety among students in grades 6-10. The camp began with an introduction to the importance of cyber security and the need to protect oneself from potential threats online. The students were taught how to identify and block unknown individuals who may cause disturbances on social media platforms. They were also advised to be cautious of false advertisements and scams that may trick them into parting with their money.
The volunteers emphasized the importance of using social media wisely and responsibly, especially for teenagers who are more vulnerable to online threats. They were advised to be cautious of strangers who may fake their identity and to avoid sharing personal information online. In addition to the talks, the students were taught how to contact local authorities in case they face any issues related to cybercrime. They were advised to remember the helpline number and seek help from trusted elders, such as family members or teachers, before contacting the authorities directly.
Overall, the camp was a success, and the Legal Aid Society plans to conduct similar camps in the future to continue raising awareness about cyber security and safety among young students. The society believes that educating young minds about the potential dangers of the online world is crucial in creating a safe and secure online environment for everyone. The camp concluded with a special thanks to Mr. Prateek Sir, the faculty of the Legal Aid Society, for conducting the camp and imparting valuable knowledge to the young minds. The students left the camp with a better understanding of cyber security and the importance of responsible social media use.
