The 1st KIIT Inter-University Client Counselling Competition 2026, conducted by the Legal Services Clinic, KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed to be University, concluded successfully with the participation of 26 teams from various universities across the country.

The competition provided a dynamic platform for law students to develop and demonstrate their skills in client counselling, legal analysis, communication, problem-solving, professional ethics and advocacy. Through the different rounds, participants engaged with challenging legal situations and demonstrated their ability to understand client concerns, identify legal issues and formulate appropriate legal strategies.

Runner-Up: Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur
Best Counsel: Shariya Alam, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata
Best Client: Prachi Singh

The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Shri Justice M. M. Das, Former Judge, Odisha High Court and Former Head of the State Chit Fund Inquiry Commission, as the Chief Guest.

The occasion was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Raju K.D., Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus, KIIT-DU; and Prof. Loknath Mohapatra, Director (Legal Services).

The competition offered participants an opportunity to move beyond theoretical learning and experience the practical dimensions of client-centred legal practice. It encouraged students to approach legal problems with sensitivity, clarity, professionalism and strategic thinking.

The successful conduct of the inaugural edition reflects the commitment of the Legal Services Clinic, KIIT School of Law, towards promoting experiential learning and professional skill development among law students.

The competition was coordinated by the Faculty Coordinators of the Legal Services Clinic, Mr. Shashank Nande and Dr. Pragnya Parimita Ray, whose guidance and efforts contributed to the successful organisation of the event.
