The KIIT Centre for Constitutional Law Studies and Research (CCLSR) hosted a grand celebration of 75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Legacy of Justice, Inclusion, and Sustainability on November 26, 2024, at KIIT School of Law. Graced by Hon’ble Justice S. Ravindra Bhat, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, the event marked the culmination of six months of engaging activities commemorating the Constitution’s historic legacy.
Justice Bhat delivered an insightful address, reflecting on the Constitution’s adoption 75 years ago as a transformative moment for India. He emphasized the document’s role in mending societal divides and securing liberty and governance for all citizens. Highlighting its uniqueness as more than a legal document, he called on students to cherish and uphold its principles, reminding them of the sacrifices behind its creation.
The celebration began with Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Director, KIIT School of Law, leading the reading of the Preamble, followed by Prof. Kyvalya Garikapati, Patron- in-Chief of CCLSR, who read the Fundamental Duties and emphasized their importance.
Key insights were shared by Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Pro-Vice Chancellor, who applauded CCLSR’s initiatives and underscored the Constitution’s role in governance and nation-building.
The event featured an Award Ceremony recognizing winners of competitions like the 1st KIIT Constitutional Judgement Writing Competition and CineCelebration. Faculty Convenor Mr. Shashank Nande delivered the vote of thanks, reflecting on CCLSR’s impactful semester and urging students to embody the Constitution’s ideals.
The celebration concluded with the KIIT Anthem, uniting all attendees in a spirit of pride and reverence for the Constitution.
