The 2nd KIIT Intra Client Counselling Competition 2024, organized by the Legal Services Clinic of KIIT School of Law, was held on the 15th and 16th of November. Designed to provide students with a practical platform to enhance their client-handling and counseling skills, the event saw enthusiastic participation from 120 students, faculty members, and esteemed guests. Over the two days, participants competed in multiple rounds, and the event was marked by meticulous organization and insightful feedback from experienced judges.

Day 1: 15th November 2024
The competition commenced with the arrival of judges, who were welcomed warmly by the organizing team. Prateek Mishra, the Faculty Convenor, introduced the event and emphasized the significance of client counseling in legal practice. Following this, Ashish Kushwaha, the Student Convenor and Falguni Mundhra conducted a detailed briefing for the judges, explaining the rules, regulations, and problem sets at the Library Annex. Simultaneously, Neetisha Mohanty led the client briefing session in LH-2, ensuring the participants were well-prepared for their roles. After escorting the judges to their respective rooms, the preliminary rounds began at 10:45 AM. The morning session witnessed an impressive display of skills as teams tackled challenging client scenarios. A lunch break in the Seminar Hall offered an opportunity for informal interactions among the organising committee and judges. The second round of preliminaries resumed at 2:15 PM, followed by an insightful interview with the judges, who shared their experiences and observations. The day concluded on a lively note with an alumni cricket match, fostering camaraderie within
the KIIT community.

Day 2: 16th November 2024
Day 2 began with the arrival of judges and an introduction about the event by Prateek Mishra, the faculty convenor. Neetisha Mohanty briefed the judges, while the client briefing for the quarter-finals was conducted by Falguni Mundhra and Aastha. The quarter-final rounds commenced soon after, with results being declared by 12 PM. Aastha led the client briefing for the semi-finals, which began at 1:45 PM and continued until the lunch break in the Seminar Hall. The results of the semi-finals were announced in the Multipurpose Room by Prateek Mishra, setting the stage for the final rounds.
The final rounds were graced by distinguished guests, including Justice Dr. D.P. Choudhary, Senior Advocate Durga Prasad Nanda, and Vice Chancellor Debasish Bandopadhya. Director of KIIT School of Law Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese and Prof. (Dr.) Rajan Varghese also joined for the final rounds. The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Ananya Sinha and Neetisha Mohanty, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the honored guests. Falguni Mundhra and Neetisha Mohanty provided an overview of the Legal Services Clinic and the competition, highlighting its objectives and achievements. The Director felicitated the esteemed guests, after which speeches by Hon’ble Justice (Dr.) D.P. Choudhary and Senior Advocate D.P. Nanda inspired
the audience and appreciated the participants & efforts.
The valedictory ceremony was marked by an address from the Chancellor, who commended the organizers and participants for the event’s success. Ashish Kushwaha, the Convenor, announced the results and congratulated the winners: Team Code 24 – Suryadeep Nanda and Shameeha Tarafdar (4th Years), with Team Code 31 – Soumit Nath and Subhashish Kumar Sahu (3rd Years) as the runners-up. The special awards for Best Counsel were presented to Suryadeep Nanda, while Best Client was awarded to Saara Upadhyaya, followed by an engaging speech by Ashish Kushwaha as the Convenor, reflecting on the event’s success. Prateek Mishra, the faculty convenor delivered the Vote of Thanks, extending gratitude to all who contributed to the event & smooth execution.
The 2nd KIIT Intra Client Counselling Competition concluded on a high note, reflecting the dedication of the Legal Services Clinic to fostering practical skills and offering invaluable learning experiences to future legal professionals. The meticulous planning and execution by the organizing committee of the Legal Services Clinic made the event a memorable one.
