In a momentous event held at School of Law, KIIT-DU, a new chapter in the realm of defence and strategic studies was inaugurated on 28th November 2024 with the establishment of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies (CDSS) by Major General Nilendra Kumar, Judge Advocate General of Indian Army and Founder Director-Lex Consilium Foundation, New Delhi; Brig. Dr. L.C. Patnaik, Former Defence Advisor for Middle East at the Embassy of India, Tehran, Iran; Prof. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus, KIIT School of Law; Prof. (Dr.) Amreshwar Galla, Pro Chancellor of KISS-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Debashish Bandyopadhyay, Pro-Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Director, KIIT School of Law and Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Patnaik, Convenor-CDSS.
The Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies at KIIT aims to enhance research and education on national and international security issues. It seeks to analyze the theoretical and policy implications of defense, law, and society at both domestic and global levels. The event also marked the book launch of Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Patnaik, titled “The Regime Change in the Philippines: The Role of the United States of America,” which further enriched the academic discourse on international relations and strategic studies. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Co-Convenor, Dr. Jinia Kundu, acknowledging the contributions of various individuals and organizations.
