KIIT Legal Services Clinic was honoured to host the cohort from Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata. Multiple activities were organized during this two-day academic engagement, including a legal awareness camp, jail visit, mock counselling simulation, competition observation, campus tour, and several interactive sessions with students, faculty, and members of the Clinic.
Day 1 of the School Visit marked the beginning of an exciting academic and experiential journey as Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata visited KIIT School of Law, Bhubaneswar. The 24 students and 2 faculty members were warmly welcomed by the organising team. The day began with an orientation session, during which the action plan for the two-day event was shared. This was followed by a guided campus tour of both the KIIT School of Law and the KISS campus, offering the students valuable insights into the academic environment and the social outreach initiatives of the institutions. The day concluded with a legal awareness camp at Raghunathpur village, where students interacted with the local community and witnessed the real-world impact of legal aid.
Day 2 commenced with an enriching visit to Special Jail, Jharpara, Bhubaneswar. The students, along with their faculty members and senior members of the Legal Services Clinic, gained meaningful exposure to the inner workings of the correctional system and the concept of reformative justice. In the afternoon, the students attended the final round of the Clash of Counsels – Negotiation Competition, organised by the Centre for Cyber Law and Cyber Security, KIIT School of Law, where they observed skilled negotiators in action. This was followed by an interactive session with our Hon’ble Director Ma’am and esteemed faculty members. A mock client counselling session was then held to demonstrate how to approach and assist individuals in distress. The students were subsequently divided into groups of three for a hands-on simulation, allowing them to personally experience the dynamics of client counselling. The day wrapped up with an open and engaging interaction session between the students and members of the Legal Services Clinic.
The two-day event concluded on a heartfelt and inspiring note, with warm farewells and best wishes extended to the students for their future endeavours.
