On March 12, 2026, the KIIT School of Law hosted an enlightening international guest lecture titled “Common Law and Civil Law Systems: Key Differences and Comparative Insights.” The virtual session featured Prof. (Dr.) Paulo Campanha Santana from the Mackenzie Presbyterian Faculty of Brasilia, Brazil, who shared his profound expertise with first-semester law students.

The lecture served as a foundational masterclass, meticulously breaking down the structural and historical nuances that distinguish global legal traditions. Prof. Santana expertly navigated the complexities of codified statutes in Civil Law jurisdictions versus the role of judicial precedent in Common Law systems, providing students with a clear lens through which to view modern constitutional interpretation.

The event commenced with a warm Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Kyvalya Garikapati, Dean (Academics), who emphasized the university’s dedication to providing students with a globalized legal education.

The successful execution of this international academic exchange was made possible through the dedicated coordination of Mr. Faiz Ayat Ansari, Head of the Department of Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. His commitment to integrating international legal perspectives into the curriculum was instrumental in bringing an academic of Prof. Santana’s stature to the KIIT classroom, further strengthening the school’s ties with the Brazilian legal community.
