The Industry Engagement Cell, KIIT School of Law, KIIT Deemed to be University, organised a Konclave on “Banking, Financial Services and Insurance: Law and Policy” on 12 September 2026, bringing together professionals from the legal, banking, financial services and insurance sectors to deliberate on the evolving landscape of law and policy governing financial institutions in India.

The Konclave commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an introduction to the theme by Dr. Sudipta De Sarkar, Dean (IE, SA & Admissions).

Prof. (Dr.) Raju K. D., Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU, welcomed the distinguished delegates and shared his reflections on the significance of the theme and its relevance to the evolving Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) landscape.

The inaugural session was further enriched by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) N. L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus, KIIT-DU; Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU; and Prof. (Dr.) Kumar Mohanty, Director, KIIT School of Management. Their addresses highlighted the importance of legal education, industry engagement and evolving policy frameworks in shaping the future of the financial sector.

Mr. Nilanjan Sinha, General Counsel, ICICI Bank, delivered the keynote address, offering insights into the changing dimensions of financial regulation and the importance of a robust legal framework for the financial sector.

The programme was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring leading legal professionals, including Mr. Ketan Ganatra, Head – Corporate Legal, Litigation & Liability Claims, HDFC ERGO GIC; Mr. Deepak Ranjan Singh, Head – Corporate Legal, Bandhan Bank; Mr. Dwaipayan Banerjea, VP – Zonal Legal Manager, HDFC Bank; Ms. Aparna Rawat, Chief Legal Officer, L&T Finance; and Mr. Ranjit Mohanty, AGM (Law), State Bank of India.

A key highlight of the Konclave was the interactive workshop sessions, which provided students with an opportunity to directly engage with industry professionals and gain practical perspectives on contemporary legal and corporate challenges.

The Konclave provided a valuable platform for dialogue on regulatory evolution, emerging challenges and the need for effective legal and policy frameworks in India’s rapidly transforming financial sector. The initiative also strengthened the connection between legal education and industry practice, providing students with meaningful exposure to the professional dimensions of banking, financial services and insurance law.
