The International Conference on Labour and Employment Law – Contemporary Issues and Challenges was held at KIIT-DU, calling for research paper submissions and presentations from scholars around the world. Organized by the Centre for Labour and Employment Studies (CLES), KIIT School of Law, in collaboration with the National Labour Law Association (NLLA), New Delhi, the conference took place in hybrid mode, welcoming delegates and participants globally on the 21st and 22nd of September, 2024.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, professionals, research scholars, and legal practitioners, representing 35 esteemed universities from across India. Adding an international dimension to the event, distinguished professionals and dignitaries from Sri Lanka and Mauritius enriched the discussions with their expertise and insights. A total of 66 research papers were presented by 121 participants, showcasing a diverse range of perspectives and fostering an exchange of innovative ideas on contemporary labour and employment law challenges.
The conference centered around five key thematic areas, guiding participants in their submissions and presentations: Labour Rights and Global Perspectives, Trends and Challenges in Domestic Labour Laws, Protection of Rights for Unorganized Workers, Labour Rights and Gender Equality, and Child Labour and Labour Policies. These carefully curated themes encouraged a comprehensive exploration of critical issues shaping the current and future landscape of labour and employment law.
This initiative of submitting articles and presenting papers offered a versatile platform for emerging lawyers from law schools across the nation. It also invited esteemed dignitaries to share their expertise, guiding and inspiring the budding legal minds. Special recognition was extended to the Hon'ble Founder of KIIT (Deemed to be) University, Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, and the Hon'ble Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, for their unwavering support. Heartfelt gratitude was also expressed to Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Director of KIIT School of Law; Prof. (Dr.) Rajan Varghese, Director of Research and Innovation at KSOL; Dr. Bibhu Kaibalya Manik, Assistant Professor-I and Faculty Convenor of CLES; and Ms. Pratikshya Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor and Faculty Co-Convenor of CLES, for their invaluable contributions to the success of the conference.
