On 22nd March 2024, KIIT School of Law's legal aid society organised a pro bono camp at the Salepur, Tentol village in Cuttack district, Odisha. This was done with the help of the esteemed Alumni Sir, Sidhant Mohanty of batch 2015, who also completed his masters in London. He also runs an NGO. This village is his native place therefore he wanted us to visit and spread legal awareness among his villagers.

A Pro Bono camp was set up there to provide free legal aid services to the people who are facing issues in their day-to-day lives. To aid them and to acknowledge them with the laws and statutes which are present there related to their disputes. Twenty-two students from first years, second years and fourth years were accompanied by the esteemed Faculty member Prateek Mishra Sir, Student Co-Convenor, Aniruddha Ray and Camp head Anindita Bishoi. The camp timing was from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at Jayantee Govt High School, Tentol.

We were glad that villagers were eager to acknowledge us with their problems. Many problems/ cases were noted down and are still in progress to give them a solution by collecting their copied documents going through the papers and giving them proper guidance. The villagers also had a ray of hope as they didn't know earlier whom to rely on, on these legal matters and they were equally happy to be helped. Everyone was greeted by packed food and juice which was overwhelming to them.

Later another ma'am who is also an alumnus of KIIT law school and sir joined us with their pet dog named Carrot who was equally enthusiastic to be a part of the camp. .After 1:30 pm, our Esteemed Sidhant Mohanty Sir took us to his place through the beautiful greens and we all had lunch there which was scrumptious and felt like home-cooked food. Later we ended our camp by visiting the banks of the Great Mahanadi river where we had a wonderful time.

We all would like to thank Sidhant sir, especially for organising this wonderful camp and our Faculty member Prateek Mishra sir for accepting and letting us be a part of it. Again the co- convenor and the camp head managed the team divided the work equally among us and let us experience field work.

This camp not only made us experience, fieldwork but also how to deal with clients and how to emotionally connect them to make them feel reliable on us.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and the best camp to date.
