Tulip Suman

Faculty in Intellectual Property Rights, Public International Law and Geopolitics

Ms. Tulip Suman, a master of laws from the National Law University Jodhpur, with a specialization in Intellectual Property Rights, is currently conducting doctoral research at National Law University Odisha on the topic of ‘Moral Rights of the Authors in Copyright Law: Interpretation and Implications’. Earlier she has been trained in legal analysis, litigation and legal procedures from University Law College, Utkal Unversity, Odisha. She has also been a part of National Law University Odisha as a Teaching and Research Associate, as a visiting faculty at School of Law Apeejay Stya University Noida, School of Law KIIT University and University Law College Utkal University and has conducted various courses on law and liberals arts such as, Copyright and Design Laws, White Collar Crimes, Transfer of Property Laws, Legal History, Intellectual Property Laws, Family Laws, Banking Laws, Company and Business Law, Labour Law and several specialized seminar papers such as Trademarks and Related Rights and Copyright Laws and the Entertainment Industry. She has been trained in various teaching and pedagogical methods, legal drafting, case analysis and empirical and doctrinal research. Apart from teaching and research she has worked as the planning associate for establishment of the Community College for Paralegals: Barefoot Lawyers at National Law Univeristy Odisha, under the supervision of the then Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shri Krishna Deva Rao. She has been working relentlessly to raise awareness about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights Law amongst entrepreneurs and sensitivity about legal literacy amongst women and vulnerable groups through talks and awareness campaigns at various MSME groups, educational institutions and leading Odisha based media channels. She is also part of the team of founding members of an organization WECANB Global which works for the empowerment of women and quashing gender inequality in various sectors. Acquiring her higher academic training from premiere law institutes, Ms. Tulip has been successful in developing new practices in academia, media and NGO sectors. A familiar face on primetime television, Ms. Tulip gets invited by Odisha based TV Channels regularly as an expert Panelist to talk on issues of International Law and Relations, International Foreign Affairs, Women Empowerment and Legal Literacy Awareness. Ms. Tulip is proficient in English, Hindi, Odia and understands Bengali and Rajasthani. As an Artist, with a keen interest in Indian Folk Art forms, Ms. Tulip has created and sold many paintings on the theme of Krishna leela, Ram Sabha, Motherhood and Indian Culture from her art page ‘tulipzcreations’ on various social media handles.
